The choice is ours...

Practice reinforcing
hope
rather than
despair.

There are more than enough purveyors of despair to go around, and there's more than enough in the world to despair.

There's a scarcity of those who reinforce hope, but there's no scarcity in the world for hope.

Since the conscious mind can't focus on two different things at exactly the same time, what we spend most of our time focusing on becomes our idea of reality --- so the pessimist and the optimist are both right. They just expend their mental energy focusing on different things.

St. Paul encouraged those of his day, saying, "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about THESE things and the God of Peace will be with you." (Philippians 4:8-9)

I'd prefer that the God of Peace be with me rather than the God of Anxiety. St. Paul tells me how to accomplish that.

May we practice promoting hope. We'll feel better and so will those around us. So may it be.
