Filling in the blanks...
Our mind is a mystery solving machine. It's constantly churning, questioning, looking for answers.
When we don't have information about someone that's important to us, our mind will fill in the blanks. Filling in the blanks can be useful in some situations, but it can also lead to misunderstandings.
To reduce misunderstandings by those important to us, we can communicate with them often and as clearly as possible. This will alleviate the need for their mystery solving machine to fill in the blanks.
On the other side of the coin, it's often better to ask questions than it is to fill in the blanks. So from this perspective, we can ask those that are important to us questions, so our mind doesn't need to fill in the blanks.
If we can decrease the need for our own or someone elses mind to fill in the blanks, our relationships will be the better for it.
